DataKit is designed with privacy as the top priority. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle data when you use our service.

Local Processing

All file processing happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. When you upload a CSV, JSON, or Excel file:

  • Files are processed locally on your device
  • No files are uploaded to our servers
  • No files are sent to any third-party services
  • Processing continues to work even if you disconnect from the internet

Browser Storage

DataKit uses browser storage technologies to improve your experience:

  • localStorage: Stores your preferences (dark mode, language)
  • IndexedDB: Stores conversion history for quick access to past work

All data stored in your browser stays on your device. You can clear this data at any time using your browser's settings.

Analytics

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to understand how our site is used. This helps us improve DataKit. The analytics:

  • Do not collect personally identifiable information (PII)
  • Do not track you across other websites
  • Only collect anonymous usage data (pages visited, time spent)

No Personal Information Collection

DataKit does not:

  • Require registration or login
  • Collect email addresses or names
  • Track individual users
  • Share data with third parties (except anonymous analytics)
  • Use cookies for tracking purposes

Data Retention

Since no data is sent to our servers, there is nothing for us to retain. Any data stored in your browser (history, preferences) is:

  • Stored only on your device
  • Under your control
  • Cleared automatically (history) or when you clear browser data
